Bali Stone Bridge

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

I was going through my archives when I came across this picture of this stone bridge.  This picture, scanned from a slide, was a drive by photo taken from a van as we traveled through the countryside of Bali back in 1987.  There is something about this bridge that I find to be very appealing.

It is an interesting bridge! It's fun to archive dive and go down memory lane! I wonder if there's run-off underneath it in the spring or rainy season. We've got a bridge where the creek underneath it often is a dry bed, but in spring watch out!

I can't help but wonder, how many people worked very hard to build such a bridge.

Well, the arch underneath, it seems perfectly shaped and rounded, but you are right, George. There is something I can't put my finger on...it's actually rather haunting.

Love those old bridges.

It's beautiful and seems to compliment the scenery rather than looking like something man built in the middle of God's gorgeous creation. I am glad you shared this with us.

I loved Bali.
Can you imagine how much work it took to build this bridge with so many little stones??
Lovely shot.

At first glance I thought it was on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Lots of stone bridges there... so pretty.

And there is a beautiful Roman arch. My favorite trout stream has a similar arch made of limestone. The flyfishing is always good...:)

I agree with you about the bridge. I find bridges fascinating, the same way other people are enthralled with trains.

It reminds me of how angles and curves in geometry befuddled me but architects just get it right.
